To use the LinkedIn Panel, Google Places and the Google News Panel you will need to have access to a Google API Key which can be obtained by following the steps below.

Note that there are limits to the number of requests on the Google API, click here for more details. You may have to create a new API key for each User. A "request" occurs every time a query is sent to Google. For example, click "Get contacts" in the LinkedIn Panel is one request, click the button for next page is another request, clicking the "Get News" button is another request.

1. You will need to sign up to a Google Account. (or use an already existing Google Account) If you want to have multiple Users with their own Accounts you will need to create a new Account for Every User.

Please be aware that the Screen shots we have included from Google can change as they update their Web Page. If you have and queries please contact the Customer Success Support Team at support@fivecrm.com.

3. You will need to create a Project. At the top select the drop down (which may be called My Project, a name of an existing Project you have created or it may say 'Select a project') as shown here:

4. Select the + icon to create a new Project.

5. The following screen will appear. You must enter a Project Name

6. You will then be taken back to this screen where you need to select Enable APIS and Services:

Make sure that the Project you just created is selected in the drop down, if it isn't then you can click on the drop down to select the project you just created. Note, if the project does not display in the list, then it was not created correctly, so you should repeat steps 4-6.

7. Use the Search Bar to find the APIs

8. Search for the Custom Search API and Click on the name as shown:

9. To Enable the API click on the Enable API option within the Blue box:

10. You will be prompted to Create Credentials, which you will need to use the API. You will need to add all of the APIs you wish to use before doing this.

11. Select the return button to go back to the Search menu.

Repeat Steps 8 - 11 with the Google Maps Distance Matrix API.

12. After adding both these APIs, click on the Credentials option on the menu at the left.

Then Select API Key from the Dropdown:

14. Once you have done this, in a popup you will be given your API key. Please be aware that the following screen shot shows an example, the API key you are given might be in a different format.

15. Note down, or copy the Key to your clipboard. You will need to paste this information into the User Profile in your FIVE CRM system.

16. Now log into your FIVE CRM system and go to the menu option, Setup > Users > User Profiles and choose the User that are using this functionality (note that you can use the same key across multiple or all Users, but then they would all share the same quota, where the limit free of charge is a total of 100 requests a day). In general we recommend using 1 Google Account and API Key per User Profile. (This means you would need a separate google account for each user and would only create one API key per google account)

17. In the Permissions heading there are API fields at the bottom of the page as seen here:

You need to do the following:

The Custom Search Engine ID needs to be this: 012746658160784641424:mkbonl__mzi

The Custom Search API Key needs to be the key that you just set up using Google.

Please be aware that the following screen shot shows an example, the API key you are given might be in a different format.

18. Save the User Profile. You should now be ready to go. You may need to log off and back on again to refresh the changes you have made.
