What are Regular Achievements?
Regular Achievements are standalone achievements which are measured using Achievement Criteria.
Once the selected achievement criteria are completed the correct number of times, the user is awarded the achievement they have earned. They also earn the points value assigned to the achievement.
Each regular achievement can require 1 or more different achievement criteria to be completed.
Achievements are seen when a user checks any new achievements they have earned, or when they look at their achievement profile in the system.
When a user completes an achievement, they can see the following:
The name of the achievement is in the header. The description is a brief summary of what is required for the achievement. Then the user can see the date and time they earned the achievement as well as the points value associated with it.
If they instead view their achievement profile, each achievement will look like:
You can see that the name and description are in the same places. The points total is in the top right corner.
On the right-hand side, you can see the number of users who have completed the achievement. You can click on the link to see this list of users. Below this, you can see the date and time when the user completed the achievement.
At the bottom, you can see which criteria are required and how many times these criteria need to be completed to earn the achievement. If you are looking at an achievement which has not been completed, it looks slightly different:
As you can see, the achievement looks similar, however the progress bar is incomplete and the date and time of when the user has completed the achievement does not exist yet.
Setting up Achievements
To create, edit or remove achievements go to Menu > Setup > Gamification > Achievements.
The screen will look similar to the following:
The first time you access this page, you will see that there are five achievements which have been created as standard, to give you a starting point for any achievements you wish to create yourself.
On this page, you can see: the achievement type, the achievement name, the achievement category it belongs to, who created this achievement, when it was created, the points value associated with the achievement, how many users have completed the achievement and whether the achievement is enabled or disabled.
As with all of the lists of users, you can click on the link to see which users have completed the achievement.
Filtering the Achievement List
You can filter the Achievement list using the Filter at the top of the page. If you ever want to see the whole list again, you can use the 'Reset Filter' button.
The Category, Criteria, Created By and Meta Criteria are all drop down options, however the name field is a free-type text field.
Creating a New Achievement
To create a new achievement, click on
to create a new tab.
There are three pages for creating a new achievement. The first is the Basic Details:
Type: For a regular achievement, leave the Type as it is. If you want to know how to create a Meta Achievement, click here.
Name: Enter the name for your achievement. You can be as creative as you like with these!
Description: This is a brief summary of what the achievement is awarded for, such as "Login to the system 20 times" or "Wrapup 200 Accounts".
Points: This is the points value associated with the achievement. This can be any value between 0 and 1000, however in general we recommend using multiples of 10.
Category: This is the category the achievement belongs to. If you need to create a new category, you can find out how to do so by clicking here.
Enabled: This is where you can untick the checkbox to disable an achievement if you no longer wish for your users to be able to earn this achievement. Users cannot see disabled achievements. In most cases, this will be left ticked.
The second page is the Criteria the achievement is awarded for completing:
The achievement will start with 1 empty criterion in the list.
You must select the criterion you want the achievement to track from the drop down. If you need to create a new criterion, you can find out how to do so by clicking here.
You then need to select the Required Occurrences. This is the number of times the user must complete the criterion.
To add additional criteria, click on the 'Add Criterion' button.
To delete/remove a criterion, click on the 'Remove Criterion' button.
The final page is the Preview & Save page:
On this page you can see how your achievement will look and check some of the details.
If there is anything you would like to change, you can do so by going back to either of the other two tabs.
Once you are happy with your achievement, click 'Save'.
Editing an Achievement
Editing an Achievement works in very much the same way as creating a new one. The same options as when you create an achievement are all available. To edit an achievement, simply click on the cogwheel in the Actions column.
Removing an Achievement
You can delete an achievement by clicking the dustbin icon under the Actions column. You will then need to confirm that you want to delete the achievement.
If you delete an achievement, all users who previously earned this achievement will lose it, as well as the points associated with this achievement.
In general it is better to disable achievements you no longer wish your users to be able to earn, so that any users who had completed the achievement will keep this and their points from earning this.
To disable an achievement, you need to edit the achievement by clicking on the cogwheel, then under the Basic Details tab, untick the 'Enabled' box.
Removing Achievements which are required for Meta Achievements
You are unable to delete an achievement which is required for a meta achievement. To remove this from the meta achievement(s) first you should filter the achievement list using the 'Meta Criteria' dropdown and select the name of the achievement you wish to delete. This will then show you all meta achievement(s) which the achievement is required for.
If you disable an achievement which is required for a meta achievement, then users will not be able to complete that step of the meta achievement until you re-enable this achievement. Any users who have previously earned this achievement will still be able to earn the meta achievement.
